SOCIAL COMPUTING

Hi! Assalammualaikum everyone. Have you guys ever heard about social computing? No? Okay lemme explain a little bit about this matter. Social computing is an area of computer science that is concerned with the intersection of social behavior and computational systems. It is based on creating or recreating social conventions and social contexts through the use of software and technology.

Social computing is also an interactive and collaborative behavior between computer users. Personal computing is an individual user activity in that one user generally commands computing. In social computing, the Internet allows users to interact through many mediums, including social media, blog, multiplayer games, instant messaging, open-source development and many more.

Before the Internet, computers were largely used as tools for increasing productivity. The Internet introduced a social element where users could network, share interests, publish personal insights and use their computers for more than just doing a job faster.

Other than that, social computing allows employees to connect more easily with one another and with the corporation as a whole. Shared connections also enhance face-to-face interactions and the sense of belonging to the wider corporate community.

Social computing can still benefit businesses synergistic-ally if it is used for business purposes. Social computing can be used to market products and promote customer relations. Online marketing and viral marketing are two types of promotional advertising that have grown out of social computing.

However, the risks of social computing include information security concerns; invasion of privacy; violation of intellectual property and copyright; employees' reluctance to participate; data leakage of personal information or corporate strategic information; poor or biased quality of users' generated content; cyber-bullying or cyber-stalking and employee harassment

Last but not least, social computing can also enhance customer relationship management (CRM) because it allows a business to follow public opinion about its brand and respond quickly to customer issues. Many larger organizations have also started to use crowd-sourcing for research.

Alright, I think my explanation is clear enough but if you guys want some more information regarding social computing, my suggestion would be have a lot of reading on articles that related. So, that's all for now. Thank you for reading. ♥️
